July
Friends of Louttit Library - met on Saturday, June 26th. Officers elected are:
President - Gerry Young
Vice President - Tom Romeo
Secretary/Treasurer - Brenda Andrews
Please think about joining the Friends, who help and support the many community events held at Louttit scheduled for 2010, such as the August Summer Reading Program Awards Party, September Book and Bake Sale, September One-Room Schoolhouse Reunion and December Tree Lighting. We also need help in organizing the Book Sale Room, which for many years the late Betty Pratt organized. The staff and Board of Trustees pitch in, but also do their share of the work for Louttit with keeping it up and running and making policy decisions. We all help out with the work, but do need volunteers to assist. If you have some time to volunteer, please let one of the librarians know how you can help. Your time would be greatly appreciated.
Summer Reading Program - "Make a Splash - READ" registration for children age 3 through entering grade 6 begins on Monday, July 5th. You can register anytime during the 6 week program which ends on Saturday, August 14th. Details in the Children's Room.
Update on Lower Level - The kitchen and the restroom have still not been replaced. All the carpeting has been removed. It can be used as a meeting room, but not for family events where the children would be sitting on the concrete floor. The summer reading program performers will be either at the West Greenwich Town Hall or at the Hianloland Fire Department. We'll keep you informed on the locations of the programs.
Take 2 Tandem Tellers - Tuesday, July 13th at 6:30 pm. Storytellers Ann-Marie Forer and Cindy Killavey will combine their talents to bring us a program awash with fun!
Biomes Marine Center - Saturday, July 24th at 11 am is an educational program specializing in teaching children and adults about the marine animals of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Steve Brosnihan - Thursday, July 29th at 6:30 pm. Using letters of the alphabet, Steve will show how to draw cartoon characters.
E-Mail Notices - for patrons who wish to be notified by e-mail for holds and overdues are still being offered. Let the librarian know if you wish to receive this service.
