Business License
The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for issuing various town licenses. Completed applications and associated fees are required for submission on Town Council agendas for approval. All taxes for the business must be current at the time of filing. All licenses must be renewed annually. Please contact the Town Clerk's office at 401-392-3800 should you require further assistance.
Referral sheets are required for business renewal. If your referral sheet requires signatures from the Building Official, Police Department, and Fire Marshal (located in the Building Office), you must contact these offices before submitting.
All new businesses are required to obtain a Zoning Use Certificate from the Building and Zoning Official in addition to completing the Business License Application and Referral Forms.
*NEW* - As of December 2025, The Town of West Greenwich will no longer be issuing Trade Name Certificates. All Trade Name Certificates must be filed with the RI Department of State. To obtain a Trade Name Certificate, please follow this link: https://trade.sos.ri.gov/
